Prada is one of the biggest luxury brands, known for its sleek, refined, and minimalist style that has proved popular since the brand’s founding in 1913. Prada was established in Milan by Mario Prada and his brother Martino and was initially a leather goods shop titled Fratelli Prada.

Mario’s daughter Luisa took over the brand and remained in charge for 20 years before her daughter, Miuccia Prada joined the company and took over in 1978. At this point, Prada only offered bags and it wasn’t until 1988 that a ready-to-wear collection was added to the brand. The clean lines and luxurious fabrics proved popular quickly and helped Prada to grow to become a staple of Milan Fashion Week, with must-see shows each season.

4 Prada Collaborations To Know

1. Prada x Adidas

The very first collaboration between Prada and the sportswear label, Adidas, came as a bit of a surprise in 2020, but there have been two further Prada x Adidas collaborations that have produced gorgeous bags, shoes, and sportswear-inspired clothing since.

Each collab collection has grown bigger and bigger, each with a mix of Prada’s synonymous minimalist chic style, and sportswear silhouettes, decorated with Prada and Adidas motifs – such as the triangle logo and three white stripes. These leather Prada x Adidas sneakers are the perfect example of the collaboration, combining the classic silhouette of the Adidas Stan Smiths with the luxurious nature of Prada designs.

These sneakers are crafted from black calfskin leather with a black rubber sole to ensure durability and comfort. The all-black sneakers are finished with a white Prada logo on the outside of the shoe and an Adidas logo on the heel – the perfect sleek and versatile sneakers you really need in your life!

2. Prada x Raf Simons

In 2020 Raf Simons joined the Prada brand to be a co-designer alongside Miuccia Prada, creating menswear and womenswear collections with Miuccia. Raf Simons is an incredible fashion designer in his own right, first with his own namesake label as well as a creative director for Christian Dior, Jil Sander, and Calvin Klein.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have several similarities, including a love for art and historical dress, in addition to important differences that allows them to create incredible collections each season, that play with silhouette, print, and color to show something unique on the runway.

This collaboration between two amazing designers has proved instantly popular, among fashion editors, celebrities, and Instagram influencers alike – with even Jeff Goldblum modeling the Fall/Winter Menswear collection in 2022. These gorgeous sunglasses are just one piece from the collaborations, with an ultra-fashionable black rectangular frame and dark grey acetate frames with 100% UV protection.

3. Prada x Cass

We just love the striking look of the sneakers in the Prada x Cass collaboration! In 2022, Prada worked with 22-year-old artist Cassius Hirst to create a range of brightly colored, textured sneakers that are completely individual.

Miuccia Prada contacted Cassius Hirst, the son of world-renowned artist Damien Hirst, to say that they should create something together – something Miuccia Prada does not do very often. Cass, as he is often known, is not a full time artist, but instead began stray painting white sneakers that became increasingly popular and prompted the collab with Prada.

The Prada x Cass collection includes Prada’s American Cup sneakers that have a unique, textured finish and have been painted with vibrant colors that fade to white at the top of the shoe. There are also some black options, like the Leather Trainers pictured above, that have a worn and faded black painted pattern and are finished with the Cass logo over the laces – super stylish and effortlessly cool!

4. Prada x Christophe Chemin

The Prada x Christophe Chemin collaboration is one of the older Prada collabs, that occurred in 2016 but still is a popular collaboration between an artist and luxury brand to this day. Christophe Chemin is a French artist who often uses his work to discuss societal issues, these works of art were then printed on Prada clothing to create striking shirts and dresses that were totally one-of-a-kind.

Chemin’s work, including The Important Ones, Banquet Thieves, Survival Utopia, and Impossible True Love, which is the work of art on the shirt above, have been printed across white clothing to bring Chemin’s art to a whole new audience.

The shirts and dresses from the collection sold out quickly and so the only way to get your hands on one of these incredible pieces that flawlessly combines fashion and art, is to search on resale sites such as Vestiaire Collective, Grailed, or eBay.
