Dressing for the cold can be tricky – it’s often impractical to wear the trendiest fashions when you’d rather just layer up and bury yourself in a pile of warm jumpers and cardigans.
However it’s perfectly possible to both look and feel good when the cold weather strikes.
These fashion bloggers will show you how to maximise your style during the colder months of the year and what to pay attention to when you’re layering up your outfits. (Hint – lots of accessorising with hats and over the knee boots!)

Gorgeous Winter Outfits You Need To Try
Over the knee boots (OTK) are a staple in any winter wardrobe.
Fashion bloggers are known to wear lots of Stuart Weitzman OTK boots, which go up all the way to $800 in price – not great if you’re looking for budget looks.
Another great company where popular fashion bloggers shop for their OTK boots is Goodnight Macaroon.
Although I’ve never personally shopped from there, Goodnight Macaroon works with bloggers like Champagne And Chanel and Mumu And Macaroons on a consistent basis.
Teddy Coats continue to be highly sought after this season.
I Am Gaia’s Pixie coat is the fashionista’s ultimate IT coat, but Boohoo offers a budget version of the coat too.
These Alo Moto leggings have been making big waves in the fashion blogger world – I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen them on different influencers!
They are perfect to combine with a full-on casual look, or if you prefer an athleisure look, you could also wear them with an Adidas top and a cap, for example.
Although CellaJaneBlog wears a new outfit almost every single day, this Zac Posen bag is something that she rarely changes.
It goes so well with whites and neutrals and looks perfect combined with tan boots, so I can completely understand why it’s her favorite bag.
In case you haven’t noticed, baker boy hats are still in! The bigger the better.
Many retailers sell baker boy hats in various different sizes, so if you’re not quite sure what your size is, order a few of them and return the rest.
Baker boy hats aren’t the only hats in style.
Fashion bloggers like LC_Steele and Champagne & Chanel have been rocking wool brim hats for years now, and the look isn’t going anywhere.
If you haven’t worn these kinds of hats before you might feel a little bit pretentious at first, but that will fade quickly.
Wool hats are the quickest way to add extra glamour into your outfit and all in all a great accessory to have.
No matter what you’re wearing, if you put a matching hat on top of it, you will score instant style points.
Scarves are another winter staple. This year plaid continues to be in trend and while you will find plenty of cheap scarves on sale such as this one in the picture, opt for a more robust, warm cashmere scarf, when weather gets even colder.
For example, Halogen sells an amazing cashmere plaid scarf which will keep you warm even in negative temperatures.
Layering Up With Sweater Dresses
Sweater dresses are some of my favourite dresses to wear during winter, but let’s be honest – they don’t really keep you that warm unless you take extra measures.
I get cold very easily, so I normally pair my sweater dress with over the knee boots and wear a few protective layers underneath my dress.
The best layers to wear are the most seamless ones. You want something that will be skin tight, so that no cold air can travel through your body and the garment.
I found that it’s best to wear at least one layer of thermal tops (like this one from Free People) and combine it with a skin tight skirt, or even a pair of shorts – which ever feels warmer.
I promise you that no one can tell the difference between a layered up sweater dress and a normal one. Try it out for yourself!
