At $500, the Dyson Airwrap is a luxury that not many of us can justify spending on a hair styling tool.

Luckily for us, there are some good Dyson Airwrap alternatives on the market, and more are popping up here and there as hot air technology tools get more and more advanced.

Below, you’ll find the best hair-friendly, low heat tools that will cut your styling time in half and give you healthier hair overall. Some of these gadgets cost as little as $40, so if you’re on a budget, these are great for you.

What Do You Get With The Original Dyson Airwrap?

Dyson hair styling tool

The Dyson Airwrap comes with a mini version of the Dyson Dryer, two 1.2-inch barrels, two 1.6-inch barrels, two brushes for straightening and one for curling.

According to the Dyson website, the Dyson Airwrap styler harnesses an aerodynamic phenomenon called the Coanda effect. Its curves are to attract and wrap the hair to the barrel. Styling is achieved with air, not extreme heat.

While that may sound impressive, ultimately, the tool is simply a hot air hair styling tool, which styles your hair with minimal damage. Dyson is known for its supreme technology when it comes to gadgets of any kind, so you know that you’re getting the best on the market.

However, if you are just looking for a hot air styling tool to minimize heat damage and to test out the new way of styling hair, there are plenty of other tools that get the job done on a more affordable budget.

The Best Dyson AirWrap Alternatives:

1.BaByliss Air Style 1000

The BaByliss Air Style 1000 comes in at around $70, making it considerably cheaper than the Dyson. But is it a good Dyson Airwrap alternative?

The reviews for this product are overwhelmingly positive and have an average 4.5-star rating on Feel Unique, which is actually better than the original Dyson AirWrap. The styling tool comes with 4 interchangeable attachments so you can dry, smooth, volumize and curl as you can with the Airwrap.

While it seems to not be quite as powerful as the Airwrap, it is a great alternative, using the same technology as the Dyson that guarantees less heat damage and also cuts your styling time in half. Moreover, it has all the same pieces for, let’s face it, a much more affordable price.

The curling wand attachment on the BaByliss is also pretty impressive as it can handle long hair. If you have long hair with the Dyson, you might need to buy extra barrels to handle it!

While the BaByliss Air Style 1000 has multiple attachments, the areas where it really shines is creating beachy waves, relaxed curls and poker-straight hair. If you’re looking for more defined curls, the original Dyson AirWrap is a better choice.

Note: The Babyliss Air Style 1000 comes with a UK cord/plug, so you’ll need to purchase an additional adapter that converts the voltage, such as this one. These usually retail for $30 or so, so factor that into your purchase decision-making!

2. Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Hot Air Brush

The best Dyson airwrap similar product and Dyson AirWrap alternatives

If you’ve been searching for products like Dyson Airwrap, you’ve no doubt come across the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer.

This has had some really great recommendations from YouTubers as a direct “copy” of the Dyson Airwrap. If you’re looking to create a big, bouncy blow-dry, this is the tool for you.

The styling tool works super quickly to create a shiny, frizz-free and healthy look, no matter what hair type you have.

Coming in around $40, it is obviously a steal compared to the cost of the Dyson. That’s less than 10% of the cost!

With that said, Revlon’s Dyson Airwrap alternative has some differences to the original Airwrap. First of all, it doesn’t have any attachments and only comes with a huge barrel, which is covered in two different types of bristles.

The size of the barrel helps to dry quickly but can make it a little tricky to get right to the root.

Like any product, it seems like it just takes a little time to get used to!

Depending on what kind of a look you are trying to achieve, the Dyson is great for more defined curls, whereas Revlon is best for a bouncy blow-out with a sleek end result. It’s difficult to achieve defined curls with Revlon’s One-Step Volumizer, as ultimately it’s not designed with that in mind.

So, if you’re looking for a curly look, you’re going to need a separate tool for that. At $40, this is still the cheapest Dyson Airwrap alternative on the market, so you might want to give it a go as an everyday hairdryer and styling tool.

3. Remington Volume and Curl Air Styler

Remington hot air styling tool

The Remington Volume and Curl Air Styler comes with a variety of tools like the Dyson. The attachments are:

  • A Brush for a big bouncy dry
  • A Smoothing paddle-brush
  • A wand for curling
  • A brush for drying

The unique feature of this styling tool is the rotating function on the blow-dry tool, which mimics running the brush-up and down your hair when you’re aiming for a big blow-dry.

The only problem is that it’s a bit tricky to get to grips with and if you’re not careful you can easily get in a snag! Once you figure it out, it is great for some good volume.

The paddle-brush attachment for straight hair does the job but isn’t revolutionary. If you have really curly hair, you’re probably still going to need to straighten it as well.

This is a decent alternative to the Airwrap if you are aiming for a voluminous look, however it doesn’t work quite as well as the Airwrap if you’re hoping for a curly look.

Again, at around $40, it’s an affordable alternative if you want a product like the Dyson Airwrap.

4. T3 Whirl Wand

The best products similar to Dyson Airwrap and Dyson AirWrap alternatives

Out of the four Dyson Airwrap alternatives, the T3 Whirl Wand is the only classic hair styling tool that we’ve included. The T3 Whirl Wand isn’t equipped with hot air technology, however, it still minimizes hair damage thanks to its negative ion technology.

It’s also a firm fan favorite with a shining 5-star review on Nordstrom, much thanks to its beautiful rose gold design, ease of use, minimal hair damage, and beautiful results.

The T3 Whirl Wand comes with three different attachments, all for curling. They differ depending on the type of curl you are looking for. The time it takes to curl is massively reduced than with a regular curler which is great if you have long, thick hair.

And the best part about this product? The curls last, and last, and last…

The only real two downsides of this product are the high cost ($300) and the fact it doesn’t come with a drying or brush attachment. Other than that, it’s amazing.

Should You Get The Original Dyson AirWrap Or A Cheaper Alternative?

Briefly, it’s worth discussing a few of the positives and negatives of the Airwrap itself. Note: You can also buy the Dysnon AirWrap second hand on eBay for cheaper!

Pro’s – The product is really unlike any other due to the technology it uses. No matter what look you are trying to achieve, it holds.

It is a real game-changer for the length of time it takes to style your hair. If you spend a lot of time on your hair every day, it’s going to make a huge difference to you.

Con’s – Obviously the price. It is super expensive which puts it outside most people’s reach.

There also seems to be a lot of discussions that the Airwrap gets incredibly hot and a bit too forceful. This is something you’d really have to try out for yourself and see how it works for you.

So, Which Gadget Is The Best For Me?

This really comes down to what you’re looking for in the product – do you want to achieve a poker straight look, bouncy curls, or defined curls?

If you want a product that’s most similar to the Dyson Airwrap, the BaByliss Air Style 1000 is the best option as it has pretty much the same attachments and functionalities. It’s also the newest product of any of the alternatives, which means it uses the latest hot air technology, and it was possibly made by the manufacturer as a direct competitor to the Dyson Airwrap.

However, if you are from the US, we know that having a UK adapter and possibly having to use a voltage adapter whenever you want to use the hair styler, which is why you may prefer the Revlon alternative. This is great for a big blow-out and achieving a natural look, but it doesn’t do much to create curls.

If you love loose curls, the T3 Whirl Wand works great for a long-lasting wavy look. However, as neither the Revlon nor the T3 alternative come with all pieces you’d find with the Dyson, so you’ll have to decide which is more important to you: silky smooth hair or a wavy appearance. For everyday styling, we’d recommend the Revlon One-Step Hair Volumizer.

Lastly, if you don’t want to compromise, why not get a Dyson Airwrap secondhand on eBay
