Going to a pool party soon but don’t want to swim for one reason or another? If so, here’s a style guide on what to wear to a pool party if you’re not swimming so you can still have fun.

One cannot just simply pass up an invite to a pool party! It’s fun, it’s refreshing, and when backyard barbecues come with it – it’s a party that’s guaranteed to go from morning till night.

If you’re invited to an upcoming pool party but have no plans on swimming, fret not! You’re still guaranteed to have as much fun as your friends splashing around in the water. If you are not planning on swimming, what should you wear?

The short answer is that your clothing should be comfortable and stylish above all else. This article will help both women and men with what to wear to a party so you can be pool-party ready (even if you don’t plan on getting wet!).

What To Wear To A Pool Party If You’re Not Swimming (For Women)

1. Sundresses

Sundresses are a staple to wear at the pool. Mini dresses are easy to wear, and they provide a feminine and casual look that’s a good option for poolside parties or on hot days. It’s best to go for sundresses with lightweight fabrics so you won’t get too bothered by the hot weather.

Pair your favorite beach sundress with some flat sandals, and a cute rattan bag for a finishing touch!

2. Bikini Top & Bottoms

If you still want to be a part of the pool party without swimming, a cute outfit idea would be to pair your favorite bikini top (or swim top) with denim shorts! This can also work with wrap skirts or long flowy linen pants if it’s hot outside.

If bikini tops aren’t your thing, you can always go for a nice crop top or an off-shoulder top paired with comfortable shorts.

A sarong is a great idea for what to wear at the pool party. They can be used as both an accessory or they can function as your actual outfit if you don’t want to change later on in the day!

Sarongs (also called coverups) are usually made up of sheer fabrics, so you can cover up while still flaunting your best assets.

4. Flowy Maxi Dresses

Flowy maxi dresses are another great idea to wear at the pool party. They’re appropriate for sunny days, while giving your legs some much-needed sun protection for the summer season.

You can go with something cute and flirty like floral prints, or you could even opt for a solid color if that’s more your style!

5. Accessories & Footwear

Since you won’t be swimming, you can wear as many accessories as you want! Statement pieces like a floppy hat to protect you from the sun’s rays, big earrings, body chains, and cute sandals or flip flops are perfectly acceptable for a pool party.

It’s best to steer clear away from high heels as you’ll be in close proximity with water – the last thing we want for you is to slip and hurt yourself!

If you insist on wearing heels for some added height, then a wedge sandal could also work (but not too high, please!). Just watch your step closely.

Avoid leather bags too, and rather just go for a chic straw bag that will complete your pool party look.
