The Best Hermes Sandals Look Alikes (From $32)
Before moving on to autumnal wear for good, I wanted to cover a few more summer essential’s on the blog – notably, Hermes sandals look alikes. If you’ve been on Instagram at all this summer, you would’ve noticed that most trendy fashion bloggers are all sporting these shoes or their dupes.
In particular, the designer sandal that has become a particular hit is the Hermès Oran. The sleek slip on sandal comes in a small block heel option or completely flat, standing out due to the H shaped strap and contrast stitching, is available in 21 different colours from tans to metallic.
Whilst they might come with a hefty price tag they are a comfortable luxury, that if looked after will last you summer after summer. They look great with classic summer looks like cut offs or summer dresses but also can be dressed up for more office appropriate looks.

Victoria’s Secret model Elsa Hosk has incorporated them into her off-runway streetstyle, supermodels Elle McPherson and Helena Christensen wear them on the school run and the Olsen twins are inseparable from their brown pairs, and it near impossible to see a fashion blogger wear anything but a sleek pair of Oran’s during the summer months.
Hermes is know for having some of the most expensive handbags in the luxury fashion industry, with the Kelly and Birkin bags sometimes selling for more than $100,000. Their other items aren’t cheap either with these sandals being a prime example – for this minimalistic, simple design you would need to cough up about $700 per pair.
Not everyone has the means or the luxury to treat themselves to such a high ticket heritage brand piece, the $700 price tag is likely to blow most shoppers budget. There are plenty of dupes and alternatives of the Hermès Oran sandals on the market so you can get that Instagram worthy look for less.

What’s The History Behind Hermes?
The house of Hermes is one of the oldest and most luxurious fashion houses in the world, known for their handcrafted bags and silk scarfs.
Thierry Hermes, born in 1801, first established Hermès as a Parisian harness workshop dedicated to making leather saddles for European noblemen. Over the following decades he developed his business into a prestigious saddlery. He began to produce leather bags to feed the horses and to carry accessories for the riders.
It was only after Thierry’s death in 1880, with his sons taking over the business, did Hermès set their sights on selling internationally. In 1914 the company were one of the first to introduce zippers on leather goods, four years later they constructed their first jacket for Edward, Prince of Wales.
Hermes introduced their first women’s apparel collection in 1929 and their iconic Kelly bag in 1935 followed. In 1937 they started selling their iconic silk scarfs, as seen on the likes of Jackie O, inspired by the jockeys’ colors.
The Kelly bag became the must have item after Hollywood actress turned princess Grace Kelly was seen carrying the originally named Sac A Depeches on the front of Life Magazine.
In the 1980’s actress Jane Birkin met the Hermès president Jean-Louis Dumas on an airplane and complained about the lack of travel friendly purses, this inspired the Birkin bag, which has a six year waitlist.
After Martin Margiela left the fashion house in 2003 the brand was given a high fashion spin with the hiring of Jean-Paul Gautier. The brand’s rise to be the iconic luxury brand it is now also involves TV plots.
In a 2001 episode of Sex and the City Samantha uses one of her celebrity client’s names to skip the Birkin bag waiting list (making the real life waiting list triple after the episode aired) and in 2005 Gilmore Girls featured a storyline involving Logan gifting Rory a Hermes handbag despite her having no clue how valuable it was.
As of now, Hermes’ reputation and value is without doubt known to most people who are at least slightly interested in luxury fashion. The brand has even established itself as an alternative investment option for those who are looking to make money . Reportedly, the value of a Birkin has increased 500% over the last 35 years, and it’s expected to at least double in the next 10 years.
Whether or not these sandals are as good of an investment as the Birkin is debatable, but if you like the look, you can at least get the dupes to try them out.
