Hello hello, fellow bloggers and welcome to another income report here on the Chic Pursuit! This month’s income report is coming a bit late, as the last few week’s have been crazy busy for me.

I was promoting an affiliate launch, got a few last-minute sponsorship opportunities and worked on a few products that I’m launching in the next few months. Exciting stuff!

I’ve been REALLY looking forward to the end of 2019 pretty much since Q4 last year because, during that time, I wasn’t aware how much more you were able to make as a blogger during the last few months of the year.

In case you didn’t know, Q4 is the best time for traffic, revenue from display ads as well as scoring sponsorship opportunities. Everyone seems to be throwing money into advertising during the lead up to Christmas, and I’m here for it!

While I’ve already published a few gift guides, I haven’t done much for Thanksgiving.

Last year, my blog post on Thanksgiving recipes went semi-viral, and it was the most popular post that I had that month. If you haven’t already started preparing seasonal content, I highly recommend that you get started with it!

But now, without further ado, let’s get into the numbers!

What’s Up In September?

September was my second consecutive month of earning more than $4,000 a month. I’m expecting this trend to continue until the end of the year, and hopefully even hit $5k in revenue /month before Christmas.

I was also really surprised to see that my investment blog is starting to take off. So far, there hasn’t been that much traffic on the blog (around 1k visitors and 2k pageviews / month), but the revenue per thousand visitors is much greater than here on the Chic Pursuit! This month alone, the blog generated $165, which is really cool, considering I do zero marketing for it and publish blog posts just once a month.

Personally, I enjoy talking about money as much as I enjoy talking about fashion (maybe even a little bit more!), so I’m excited to see where this little project takes me.

What I’m Focusing On Right Now

Even though I talk a lot about traffic and revenue from display ads on this income report, my main focus for Q4 is actually creating more products & learning paid ads. And of course, I’m always looking to increase my email subscribers!

In September, I started running YouTube ads and so far, I’ve had great success with them. So far for every dollar that I’ve spend, I’ve received about $4 in profit. That’s insane!

I intend to keep running YT ads for at least 30 days before evaluating how well exactly they’re working. So far, it’s been less than that, so I can’t say for sure if they’re as effective as I think. Currently, my daily spend is £5 ($6).

I also want to start learning and implementing Facebook ads. Personally, I am not a fan of Facebook or its practices, but there are so many online entrepreneurs who swear by Facebook ads that there must be something to them.

Actually, I tried setting up an ad already in September, but SOMEHOW I managed to kick my self out of my own page and I’m no longer an admin nor do I have access to my own page. What??

This is really bizarre and it doesn’t help that Facebook seems to have zero employees doing customer support. So, I’m probably never getting that page back. Luckily, my page only had 500 likes, but imagine if this happened to someone with 100k+ likes. So unprofessional on their part.

Anyhow, with that little rant aside, one of the reasons why I want to learn paid ads NOW is because Black Friday is pretty much around the corner. Sometimes, there are some amazing deals with lucrative affiliate commissions, so for the past year or so, I’ve been waiting to try paid advertising to promote these affiliate offers once they launch.

Maybe this is something that you want to give a go too?

September Pageviews

Pageviews: 96,449

Sessions: 69,493

Users: 61,910

I know that pageviews are NOT the determining factor in blogging success, but I can’t help but get excited when I see my pageviews going up. In September, I had 96,449 pageviews, which is SO close to 100,000 per month!

Back in the day when I decided that I’d get serious about blogging, getting 100,000 pageviews a month seemed like a good, round goal to set for myself, so I’m happy that I’m finally *almost* reaching that milestone. In October, I’m pretty sure I’ll hit that goal.

Most of my traffic comes from Pinterest, and if you’re looking to boost your own blog traffic, I recommend focusing on Pinterest first instead of Google.

There’s two resources that I recommend for getting pro at Pinterest: the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course by Create and Go and my own ebook, Explosive Traffic With Tribes.

The Pinterest Traffic Avalanche is fantastic for bloggers who are clueless when it comes to Pinterest – if you have used Pinterest but had no success for it, this course is great for covering all the basics.

However, if you think you know all the basics about Pinterest and still aren’t seeing results, I recommend my own book, Explosive Traffic With Tribes. This book picks off where Pinterest Traffic Avalanche leaves off. It focuses almost entirely on using Tailwind Tribes to get a huge boost in traffic from Pinterest.  Pinterest Traffic Avalanche does NOT cover Tailwind Tribes at all.

The reason why I wrote this book is because I had tried EVERYTHING on Pinterest without getting any significant results, and it wasn’t until I discovered Tailwind Tribes that my views started skyrocketing. In 3 months, I went from getting 50,000 monthly pageviews to 90,000, and my income saw a similar boost.

(Note: These figures are based on my own results. Have a look at the typical results across all Tailwind members here!)

I highly recommend Explosive Traffic With Tribes if 1) You’re looking to increase your traffic 2) You’ve tried everything with Pinterest and nothing’s worked.

  1. you’re really knowledgeable about blogging. I like how you take every detail in consideration when you do these income reports.

  2. Great update! I use Tribes, but honestly, don’t find a lot of value in them. I know someone who has very successful tribes of their own and even they don’t see the clickthrough rate to their blog like they should, so it’s really interesting that you have found that avenue to be a big hit for you! Thats awesome!

    1. Maria Julia says:

Hi Erica! Wow, really? That’s the first time that I’ve heard of that! For me, Tribes was what catapulted my Pinterest success – before them I was barely getting any traffic from Pinterest and after a few months of using tribes, both my organic traffic from Pinterest as well as tribes traffic had grown a TON. It’s interesting to know that they don’t work for everyone – what niche are you guys in? x

  3. Sorry to hear about that FB issue. Sounds super weird. How can that happen? I have a fb page too but it only has 224 likes. But i would hate to accidentally get kicked off my page.

Anyway love the post. My goal is 100k/m too. Im no where near there yet but here is hoping. Thanks for all the great info. I love tailwind too.

    1. Maria Julia says:

Yeah it is weird isn’t it! And to this day there’s been no reply from Facebook. Imagine if my business depended on FB marketing! I’ve now created a new page, but having gone through this makes me trust them way less than before.

Wishing you luck on reaching your goal!
