It’s that time of month again – although this month the income report comes with a bit of a delay. I wasn’t too sure if I should publish another income report yet, as my income has been pretty much the same for the past few months.
I decided to go for it, because I wanted to show you something exciting that happened – I grew almost 70% of my traffic this month because one of my posts went semi-viral on Pinterest!
Gosh, I’m starting to love Pinterest more and more each month. More on that a bit later in the post.
In terms of income, even though on the surface it seems like I’ve made pretty much the same amount for the past few months, in reality things have shifted lots. If you go back to my first income report, you’ll see that even though I earned $3300 that month, 40% of that was coming from sponsorships.
Now, sponsorships make up merely 10% of my income, which means that I need to do less work overall – hooray! This is exactly what I wanted to accomplish with a blog. Now, the next step is to just ramp up that income to a higher tax bracket ($53k/year here in the UK).
What’s Up In September?
September was a pretty chill month for me, and I spent quite a lot of it catching up with friends instead of working. That’s the beauty of blogging – when you’ve automated everything, you can get away with working zero hours if you wanted to! Of course I worked way more than zero hours last month, but there were definitely days that I took off from working, just because I had already reached some of my income goals.
My Own Products
I started working on some of my own products and dabbling with e-mail marketing. When I say dabbling, I mean dabbling. I still haven’t managed to set anything up properly, but I am working towards it. By the time that I do my next income report I should have everything in place.
If you wanted to check out my first product, check out Millenial Presets – these are the presets that I use to edit my own Instagram photos. Any kind of feedback on the sales page would be greatly appreciated as well!
I am also starting to write a short e-book about my success with Tailwind Tribes. By the time of writing this, I’ve almost reached 90k pageviews just from Tailwind Tribes & Pinterest, and I want to share my strategies for growth with you guys!
I will do my best to have the e-book out at least in December. Of course, I will be writing a few helpful posts covering the topic, but I will go into much more detail in the e-book.
Pst, if there are any other products you would like to see from me, let me know in the comments!

Show Me The Money
Some screenshots: Amazon & MediaVine
Note: I won’t be giving all screenshots because a) It violates the TOS of some platforms like RewardStyle and b) There’s not much point in me showing you every single one of my screenshots if they are a relatively small source of income.
Amazon US – $1256
Amazon UK – $158
Amazon CA – $8
Rewardstyle – $835*
ShopStyle – $30
Total Affiliate Income: $2287 (67% of total income)
*I’ve realised that RewardStyle figures keep changing as some returns are made. It’s not like Amazon that reports each return as a negative sale on the day that it’s returned – on RewardStyle they just take the sale away on the day that the purchase was made. The figure that I’m reporting here is the figure that was available on October 2nd, however it might fluctuate.
In the past, the actual amount of money that I’ve gotten paid is usually very similar to the amount that I see straight after the month, but sometimes it’s $20-$50 lower (or higher, because cookie length can be up to 28 days long, and new purchases can be made).
As I want to publish income reports as soon as possible, I will keep reporting the figure that I see while I write the report, but keep in mind that it is not the final figure that arrives in my bank account.
Instagram – $350 (Read: How To Make Money On Instagram) (10% of total income)
MediaVine (Blog)– $753
Adsense (Youtube) – $44
Total Ad Income: $797 (23% of total income)
TOTAL INCOME: $3434
(I also make about $600 from property investments, so this month my overall earnings were over $4000, wohoo!)
Upwork – $8 (Bonus payment to a freelancer hired in August)
Tailwind – $10 (Annual Subscription)
(Tailwind is my favourite blogging tool and one of the main reasons I’ve been able to grow my blog so fast. You can try Tailwind completely free for 1 month by clicking here!)
Tailwind Tribes Powerup – $30
(Tribes are free to use to a certain capacity even if you’re not on Tailwind – give them a try here!)
Hostgator Hosting – $10
Adobe Lightroom – $13
TOTAL EXPENSES: $76
Net Income: $3358

Hostgator is a hosting site which is very affordable and a must have if you’re thinking of starting a blog or you already have a blog and need to be self hosted. It’s only $2.75 / mo through my special link to have your own blog up and running and self hosted.
I’ve been using Hostgator since I started blogging with zero pageviews, and I’m still with them at 80,000 monthly pageviews (I pay a bit more than $2.75 now because my site has grown so much).
If you’re not technical, that isn’t a problem – Hostgator has staff available 24/7 to help you out with any problems that you have with your website. I’m a regular face on their chatroom!
You can easily monetise your blog when you’re with Hostgator and they offer cheap web hosting for all blogging niches.
Millenial Presets are my own presets that I created to take my Instagram images to the next level. With my presets, I’ve been able to increase my engagement and create a more cohesive Instagram feed.
Millenial Presets are perfect for you if you’re looking to start focusing more on your Instagram image, attract brand deals and start growing your profile quicker.
My Engagement Before & After
I noticed an increase in engagement when I switched to editing my images with Millenial Presets and although I’ve heard similar stories from other people, I can’t guarantee that this will always be the case.
All of my images on my Instagram page are edited with these presets, so if you are curious to see more, either click over to my Instagram page or read more about the presets here.
September Traffic – 70% Increase & 3 Million Pinterest Views
Follow me on Pinterest here!
Like I mentioned earlier, I was actually going to skip this month’s income report because my income hadn’t increased that dramatically when compared to last month’s, but then one of my pins went viral and I decided that it would be a good idea to document the change in traffic.
What has happened has been so insane and exciting – I’ve never had a pin go viral before! I was glued to my Google Analytics dashboard in September, refreshing the stats every hour to see how many more visitors had ended up on my blog.
At the end of the month, I had 78k pageviews (up 56%) and 47k users (up 69%), which is just insane to think about. This kind of month on month growth is something that I’ve never experienced before. My strategy beforehand was to always focus on Google traffic, and with Google the traffic increase is slow, steady and very predictable.
With Pinterest on the other hand, you can get crazy swings like what I’m currently experiencing. My Pinterest views and followers have also gone up dramatically (I’m currently at over 3 million monthly views), so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the traffic will just keep on coming, and never stop (ha).
However, it’s probably not realistic to expect that my traffic will just continue to climb and climb, so I’m enjoying it while I can. Hopefully I can make some more pins go viral, but at the end of the day you never know which pins are going to take off.
How Did I Achieve This Growth?
As I mentioned before, I’ve achieved most of this growth by having a very aggressive strategy with Tailwind Tribes, but I also need to say that Pinterest Traffic Avalanche has been a big factor in my growth.
Pinterest Traffic Avalanche is a course that I took last month and although I already knew most of the material that was taught, there were some hidden gems inside that I implemented and that helped me gain momentum on Pinterest and increase my traffic.
If you are completely new to Pinterest, I would highly recommend that you check out Pinterest Traffic Avalanche before starting to implement more advanced strategies such as Tailwind Tribes.
The course covers everything that you need to know from what type of content you need to write to be successful with Pinterest, how to design pins that create traffic, how to set up your profile and how to do proper SEO on Pinterest.
What Worked In September
Pinterest, Pinterest, and a hundred times more Pinterest! I am looking forward to taking both my Tailwind Tribes strategy to the next level as well as continuing to implement the tricks I learnt from Pinterest Traffic Avalanche.
My ad revenue jumped from $398 to $753 between August and September – that’s a huge increase! Of course, part of this is due to the fact that I had 70% more users on my site, but part of it is also because MediaVine increased their RPM in September (RPM = how much you get paid per 1000 views).
Yes, you heard that right, we’ve finally entered the famous Q4, which usually means that bloggers will earn way more from their ads than what they did previously. My RPM jumped from $7.50 to $10 per 1000 page views which is amazing. So, if you’re thinking of joining an ad network, do it before you miss out on the Q4 earnings!
What Didn’t Work In September
To be honest, I can’t really say what didn’t work this month as everything kind of ran smoothly, which is great. The only thing that didn’t work was me, mostly (ba dum tss). I’ll report back next month if I’ve found things that are proving to be challenging.
