The Best Ways To Make Money Blogging

1. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the best way to get started monetizing your blog, because everyone can do it, no matter how much experience you have in the blogging world or how much traffic you’re currently getting. If you want, you can also try posting affiliate links on Pinterest!

So, what is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is recommending other brands’ products to your audience and making a cut out of every sale. Typically, you will make about 10% per sale, but you can also make 40-60% per sale depending on the product that you’re promoting.

Here Are Some Of My Favorite Affiliate Platforms That You Should Definitely Apply To:

1. AWIN – AWIN is one of the largest affiliate platforms for bloggers, They have THOUSANDS of retailers on their platform, including ASOS, Public Desire, NastyGal, SwagBucks, AliExpress, Etsy, Pretty Little Thing and so many more! To join the program, you will need to deposit $5 into your affiliate account, but you will get this back with your first payout.

2. ShareASale – ShareASale is another fantastic affiliate platform. They are completely free to join and accept (almost) everyone who requests to join. Some of their best retailers include Maje, Chicwish, Reebok, Shein, Lulus and more!

3. FlexOffers – Similar to ShareaSale and AWIN, FlexOffers has many great retailers under its arm. What makes FlexOffers different is that they also have many affiliate programs for advertisers outside of typical retail areas like fashion, beauty and homeware. For example, they have many advertisers in the parenting and personal finance niches.

4. Amazon Associates– Amazon Associates is a must for anyone looking to make money blogging! Amazon sells EVERYTHING, which makes the affiliate program really easy to use.

5. Ultimate Bundles – Ultimate Bundles is a platform selling bundles of digital products for bloggers, home makers, meal planners, photographers and more! And what’s even better, you’ll earn 40% as an affiliate! The way that Ultimate Bundles works is that they will bundle up products from different content creators online and sell them all at once for a huge discount. For example, I bought the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit from them a few months ago, and got products worth of  $5,800+ for just $97. Every product bundle that they sell comes in a similar deal, which makes it pretty easy to gain commissions!

2. Display Advertising

My pick for most sites: Ezoic

Display advertising is another great way to make money blogging because ads are so passive. They truly are a “set it and forget it” way to monetize your blog. The only downside to ads is that you will need to have decent traffic to your blog in order to make the ads worthwhile.

I would recommend only installing ads on your website once you get over 10,000 sessions per month. At this point, you can apply to premium ad networks like Ezoic which offer wayyyy more money than Google Adsense.

To put things into perspective, the average RPM (revenue per thousands pageviews) on Google Adsense is around $5, whereas on Ezoic it’s between $10 and $25 depending on the season.

You can of course try out Google Adsense if you have less pageviews than necessary to get accepted to Ezoic, but be prepared to only see a $20 per month or so from your ads.

If you have less than 10,000 monthly visits to your blog, you can still make money from ads on your blog. For this I recommend Media.Net. Their earning rate is similar to Google Adsense (for some niches Media.Net is higher), and you also get +10% of your earnings for the first 3 months!

Once you have over 25,000 sessions / month on your blog you can apply to Mediavine if you want to. At the moment, Ezoic and Mediavine offer the same RPM, so it’s up to your if you want to make the switch.

3. Sponsorships

Sponsorships are another great way to start monetizing your blog. If you are interested to get started, I have compiled a handy cheat sheet for you that includes 100 of the best sponsorship networks for both bloggers and Instagrammers. You can get it below!

4. E-books

Ebooks are a great way to bring in consistent monthly sales. The beauty of an ebook is that you can set the price as low or as high as you want, and you can make it as long or as short as you wish. For example, you could create a 7 day meal planning e-book in a day and sell it for $3-$5. You can also price your e-books higher, like I’ve done with my Explosive Traffic With Tribes e-book ($37).

I write my e-books in the Notes app and finalize the design on Canva (free to use!).

5. Courses

Selling courses online can be majorly profitable. Most bloggers host their courses on Teachable, which is free to use. The cool thing about courses is that you can create one based on anything that your audience is interested in. For example, some of the best selling courses on Teachable are about learning the guitar, learning languages, calligraphy and knitting. So, if you have something valuable to teach people, consider creating a course about it!

The trickier part about course creation is marketing them. There’s two ways that you can go about it. First and foremost, you can go ahead and create an email sales sequence to promote your product (I recommend ConvertKit), or you could promote your course on your blog, social media and Youtube.

I always recommend going the email route, because it has a much higher conversion rate than other methods.

If you want to learn more about course creation, a great resource that I can recommend is Six Figure Blogger by Create & Go – This course goes through all the techniques that you need to know before launching a product as well as how to market your product when you’ve created one.

6. Freelancing

Freelancing is a great way to make some extra money with your blog if you want to make money FAST. There are an endless number of different services that you can provide, such as becoming a Pinterest virtual assistant, graphic designer, video editor, image editor, contributing writer, and so many more. If you have a marketable skill, make sure to mention it on your blog as well as your LinkedIn profile. You can also list yourself on Upwork as well as apply to jobs there directly.

Personally, I hire all of my freelancers from Upwork and I know that many other bloggers do this too!

My Tips For Growing Your Blog: Make Pinterest Marketing A Priority

The trick to making more money with your blog is to have more people visiting your blog every day. There’s two ways that you can go about it: you can either focus on Google SEO (slow) or Pinterest Marketing (fast).

I’ve recently started implementing an aggressive Pinterest and Tailwind Tribes strategy on my blog, and I quickly went from getting 50,000 monthly pageviews to 90,000 in the span of 3 months by using two awesome sources: the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course and my own strategies in Explosive Traffic With Tribes.

With 100 pages of hands-on, no BS strategies that WORK,  Explosive Traffic With Tribes is an awesome step-by-step blueprint for bloggers to reach 90,000 pageviews with just 30 minutes of work per day. I highly recommend Explosive Traffic With Tribes if 1) You’re looking to increase your traffic 2) You’ve tried everything with Pinterest and nothing’s worked.

(Note: These figures are based on my own results. Have a look at the typical results across all Tailwind members here!)

After taking Pinterest Traffic Avalanche, I achieved some success with Pinterest, but my blog traffic didn’t really blow up until I started using Tailwind Tribes in my strategy!

Howver, if you’re a complete newbie to Pinterest, the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course will be an excellent place to start learning!
