February Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

February Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

February Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

In this post, I’m going to look at what trends are popular on Pinterest in the month of February and how you can leverage those trends to grow your blog traffic and income.

Every month, I go over the most popular trends on Pinterest and give you ideas about what to pin and how to plan your content for the next few months. As you know, Pinterest is search, trend and seasons based. If you plan your content correctly, you can tap into the trends and grow your audience accordingly.

Personally, I grew my blog traffic to 167,000 pageviews, or by 50% from October to December simply by tapping into Christmas content. (As for my income, that grew from $5,800 to $8,370, which was mind-boggling!)

Following Pinterest trends has really worked wonders for my blog, which is why I want to share them with you too. It does require you to do a little bit of extra work with planning out your content, but I promise you it’s completely worth it. And what’s better, usually the trends last for years, so in a year’s time, you’ll already have a lot of seasonal & trendy content to pin to your boards!

When To Publish & Pin Seasonal Content

Pinterest recommends it’s users to start pinning seasonal content 45 days, or about 6 weeks before the actual event. So, for Valentine’s day, you should’ve actually published & pinned your posts already on the first week of January. The reason why you should start pinning content so early is that it can take Pinterest 4-6 weeks to figure out what your content is really about and what keywords they should start indexing it for.

This way, more people will find your content and you can maximise your traffic.

With that said, personally I sometimes publish & pin content 30 days before the date of an event, if I’m running behind on my schedule and being disorganized. At other times, I will publish content way before the 45 days, for example if there’s a big holiday coming. (Case in point: I started writing and publishing Christmas content already in August – perhaps a little too early!).

Usually, both methods work fine, but if you are new to Pinterest trends, it’s better to stick to the 45 day rule.

What To Pin in February: Trending Ideas

Valentine’s Day

It’s a little too late to start creating Valentine’s content, but if you have any left-over Valentine’s pins that you haven’t published yet, pin them at the beginning of the month. This way, your pins will have some time to get indexed, and you may be able to cash in on some of the last-minute Valentine’s day traffic.

Spring Fashion & Holiday Outfits

Pinners are starting to look for outfits to wear during the warmer months, and many people are even looking for swimsuits and beachwear. After all, it’s that time of year that people are starting to take small holidays just to see some sunlight in the middle of the winter!

If you’re a fashion blogger, you can start preparing blog posts that feature key trends and colors of the season, such as whites, pinks and neutrals. You can also start incorporating ideas that will carry on being relevant and popular until the summer months, such as blog posts featuring the best sandals or popular bikini pieces to wear to the beach.

Personally, I’ve created a few post exactly like this two years ago, and they keep getting traffic ever since – the traffic usually dies out during the winter, becomes poplar around February-March and reaches peak popularity in July.

Bonus tip: If you want to be extra savvy with monetizing your fashion posts, focus on including evergreen fashion items from places like Amazon or Everlane that won’t sell out. I’ve done this with the majority of my fashion posts, and it’s one of the key reasons how I’m able to make up to $2,000 pretty passively every month from my fashion posts. (If you want more tips, I share them here!)

Spring Break & Holiday Ideas

Like I mentioned, holiday apparel is starting to pick up popularity around this time of year, but so is EVERYTHING related to holidays. You can leverage this by pinning and posting about travel ideas, spring break destination ideas, how to save money while travelling / how to score budget travel deals, and more!

Healthy Recipes

Many people are still sticking to their New Year’s resolutions, so healthy meal ideas continue to be popular well into February and beyond. Popular sub-categories of healthy food include the keto diet, the weight watchers diet, slow cooker recipes, instant pot recipes and whole 30, among others.

If you want to leverage these trends, round-up posts that feature many popular recipe ideas are a great idea, and tend to be popular among both stay at home moms and working moms.

Spring Crafts & Home Decor Ideas

In February, people will start getting into the spring cleaning mindset, and many will want to re-decorate their home with different spring colors, flowers and other spring ideas, such as wreaths (such as these tulip wreaths, how cute are they?!).

The same goes for crafts: many parents will want to do spring crafts with their children, and some are looking for more advanced crafts that they can do themselves.

Again you can create round-up posts that feature your favorite crafts & decor ideas, or you can create your own unique content that fits into the category.

Taxes

The U.S. tax season spans from January 27th until April 15th in 2020, and if you know a thing or two about taxes, now is your time to help some readers out. You can write about things such as your top tips for filing taxes, the best services to use when filing your taxes, tax tips for the self-employed, and more!

By the way, you don’t need to be a CPA to write about these topics, just write from your personal experience and share any tips that you may have for your audience.

Content Planning Ideas: What’s Going To Be Big Next?

For best results, Pinterest recommends it’s users to start pinning seasonal content 45 days, or about 6 weeks before the actual event. The reason why you should start pinning content so early is that it can take Pinterest 4-6 weeks to figure out what your content is really about and what keywords they should start indexing it for.

Use this guide to brainstorm blog post ideas that you can create in February, and think to yourself if there are other key event in your niche that are happening in April and May.

Easter

There’s no doubt that Easter is the biggest upcoming event during spring on Pinterest. There’s so many different content opportunities that you can tie to Easter, such as Easter crafts, Easter decorations, Easter recipes, Easter cards, Easter gifts, Easter cards and even Easter nail art!

There’s still a lot of time until Easter Sunday, which is on April 12th, so I recommend creating as much content for Easter as you can.

Festival Outfits & Beauty (Coachella)

Coachella and other festivals are HUGE. On Google alone, the term “Coachella outfits” has 90,500 monthly searches. That’s a LOT.

Coachella will be held on the 10th of April this year and from there on after, it’s festival season until the end of the summer. I’m sure you know how seriously people take their Coachella outfits, so if you’re a fashion / beauty blogger, consider starting to create festival content already in February.

You can approach the topic of festivals and festival outfits from different angles too. For example, you can create roundup posts featuring the overall best outfit ideas, boho Coachella outfits, baddie outfits, edgy outfits, re-creating celebrity outfits, and so on.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s day in the US is celebrated on May 10th this year. There are several content creation ideas that you can leverage here, such as Mother’s Day gift ideas, Mother’s day crafts, cards and food ideas.

December Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

December Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

December Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

A lot of people refer to this period as the most wonderful time of the year and I have to add – it’s also wonderful for online businesses and for Pinterest marketers. During November and December, ad spending is at an all year high and affiliate marketing and sales are booming too – everyone is rushing to buy Christmas gifts, decorate their house and bake tasty Christmas treats.

Pinterest, like any other search engine is heavily influenced by seasons and seasonal trends. As a content marketer and blogger, you can increase your traffic and income by a huge amount if you learn to leverage trends the right way. Personally, I’ve hit an all time high in my pageviews over the last month – currently, I’m at 127,000 pageviews, which is about 30,000 more than my monthly average!

In today’s post, I’m going to show you what you should be focusing on pinning and planning in December.

First and foremost, if you are new to this series on my blog, I want to point out the key part: Pinterest recommends that you start pinning seasonal content 4-6 weeks before its prime time. You should then of course continue pinning the content until the day of the event. When you are planning out new content for your blog, it’s good to keep this timeframe in mind to maximise your efforts on Pinterest.

What To Pin in December: Trending Ideas

Use these trending topics to maximise your reach and traffic on Pinterest!  Trending content is also good to promote with ads (if it fits your budget).

Christmas

Christmas is by far the dominating trend in December. There are so many different topics around Christmas that you can pin about depending on your niche, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t leverage it in your Pinterest strategy.

Recipes, DIY and crafts are HUGE around December, but you can also go as specific in each niche as you want. Gift guides are also popular, as people start checking off their gift lists. Gift guides can also be a great revenue source, if you use affiliate links!

Some popular keywords include: Christmas tree ideas, Christmas crafts, Christmas decorations, Christmas wreaths, Christmas cookies, Christmas gift ideas and more.

Holiday Outfits & Holiday Beauty

Office parties are abundant around Christmas time, so now is the perfect time to pin pretty party dresses, anything red and anything sparkly.

Popular keywords around this time are Holiday outfits, Christmas party dresses, Christmas nails and Christmas gift ideas.

In the UK, Beauty Christmas advent calendars have also experienced a huge surge in popularity, as have other stocking filling ideas.

New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve might feel far away, but actually it’s closer than you think! After all, it’s only 6 days after Christmas eve.

Like I mentioned before in the post, it’s a good idea to start pinning content at least 4 weeks before the actual date of the event, so now is the perfect time to start pinning content around New Year’s Eve.

Trending keywords include: NYE outfits & dresses, NYE food and appetizers and New Year’s Eve Party ideas. With this said, I also have a different strategy that you could follow to leverage the same trends.

Instead of focusing on specific keywords such as New Years Eve outfits, you can go on and create blog posts about more broad topics, such as party outfits. Both of these keywords fit the description for New Year, however the keyword “party outfits” is more evergreen, and you can pin content from this blog post all year around.

The same thing goes for other keywords such as (New Year’s Eve) party appetizers & food, (New Year’s Eve) Party ideas, party planning and more. Both of these ideas (seasonal & evergreen) are worth trying!

New Year’s Resolutions: Healthy Eating, Goal Setting, Minimalism etc.

While it may feel weird pinning content about topics that are going to be big in January, keep in mind that Pinterest recommends pinning seasonal content 4-6 weeks before it’s prime time. This means that if you have blog posts that fit this mold, you’ll already want to start pinning them in early to mid-December, so that you’ can start January with a bang.

As this is a broad topic, I’m going to dive deeper into the keywords in the next paragraph where I give you more content planning ideas!

Content Planning Ideas: What’s Going To Be Big Next?

Pinterest recommends creating & pinning content 4-6 weeks before the “prime time” of your seasonal content, so now is a good time to start planning your blog posts for January and February! With this said, once you have created these

Healthy Eating

As soon as Christmas is over, people’s attitudes shift. Chocolate cakes, Christmas candy and eating everything you desire without guilt is no more. January is all about getting back to a healthy lifestyle, which of course includes dieting. Healthy food bloggers will see huge traffic spikes, so if you are monetizing your site through ads, now is a good time to take advantage of it.

Special diets, such as keto, paleo, gluten free, Weight Watchers, whole30 etc. are as popular as ever. Popular keyword combinations include any of the afore mentioned keywords + “recipes” (including breakfast, dinner, lunch, desserts recipes).

Healthy Lifestyle – Fitness, Productivity, Goal Setting, Mindfullness

Healthy eating isn’t the only thing that’s popular in January! Think back to your own New Year’s resolutions: what do you usually promise yourself that yo’ll do? The chance is, millions of others will also have the same resolution as you.

If you’re into personal development, a good idea is to leverage trends in this niche, whether that’s writing productivity tips, life hacks, or tips for business.

On the other hand, if you’re more interested in fitness, now is a great time to start writing articles relating to weight loss. If you’re up for a challenge, you could even put together your own exercise plan, or create videos that other people can follow along!

Budgeting + Minimalism

After a spendy few months, people will want to tighten their grip on their finances. Like other areas in their lives, they want to feel like they’re in control and that they’re starting off with a clean slate.

Searches relating to simplifying your life and minimalism are usually on the rise in January, as well as searches looking for ways to make extra money, work from home and budgeting in general.

Travel / Spring Break

Many people tend to plan holidays after the Christmas period and typically head somewhere warm, including myself! January is a huge month for travel bloggers for this reason, and typically January is one of the months with the highest amount of traffic. If you have an interest in writing about specific travel locations, budget locations, now is the time.

If you are a fashion blogger, you can also leverage this trend by focusing on travel outfits, beach outfits, best bikini picks, etc.

Popular keywords include: travel destinations, travel outfit, vacation outfits, travel essentials, travel quotes, packing list.

Super Bowl

Super Bowl is a HUGE event in February. The most popular keywords around this topic are around hosting a Super Bowl party: think appetizers, decor and party ideas.

Spring Fashion

Although it may seem like we’ve just entered the Christmas season and it’s the middle of winter, if you want to stay ahead of the game, now is the time to start thinking about spring fashion trends.

Think keywords like spring outfits, spring fashion, spring outfits for work, casual outfits, etc. Additionally, vacations and travel are popular around this time of year, so consider targeting keywords such as travel outfits, beach outfits, best bikini picks, etc.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t a huge holiday by any means, but it’s still worth considering doing a couple of blog posts for Valentine’s day. The most popular search term for the day is by far Valentine giftsso consider creating a gift guides for both genders.

Other keyword ideas: Valentine’s day decorations, Valentine crafts

*Final Thoughts*

December is a HUGELY busy season for most people, and it’s also the month that the average person tends to splurge the most money on gifts. That’s why ad income, affiliate income and your sales can be a LOT higher than on your average blogging months. I hope this guide helps you navigate through this super busy month and to maximise your exposure and traffic on Pinterest.

November Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

November Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

November Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

Today in my Pinterest series I’m going to be talking about November Pinterest Trends. Pinterest, like any other search engine is heavily influenced by seasons and seasonal trends. As a content marketer and blogger, you can increase your traffic and income by a huge amount if you learn to leverage trends the right way.

Personally, I’ve seen my traffic grow by 15,000 pageviews month on month from September to October, just by focusing on pinning Halloween content during last month! It’s also been my highest grossing month to date. Coincidence? I think not.

In today’s post, I’m going to show you what you should be focusing on pinning and planning in November.

Remember that Pinterest recommends creating your content 4-6 weeks before the “prime time” of that content (so ideally, get your posts for Christmas done before 25th November), and pinning it on Pinterest until the hayday of it.

What To Pin in November: Trending Ideas

Use these trending topics to maximise your reach and traffic on Pinterest!  Trending content is also good to promote with ads (if it fits your budget).

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is by far the biggest celebration of this month and even if you’re not primarily a food blogger, you should seriously consider pinning Thanksgiving related topics, whether that be Thanksgiving decorations & crafts, Thanksgiving decor or Thanksgiving activities.

Of course, most people will be searching for Thanksgiving recipes, including side dishes, desserts, traditional recipes, Southern recipes, sauces, etc… If you’re a lifestyle blogger, I highly recommend pinning Thanksgiving recipes this month!

Cyber Monday & Black Friday

Black Friday is the biggest spending day of the year, and if you monetize your blog through affiliate marketing, you’ll want to get involved in the action. Pin & promote offers that make sense to your audience, whether that is fashion, health, travel or something else.

Cyber Monday is another great day for bloggers and online marketers. Often, e-commerce retailers like Amazon will offer special deals on Cyber Monday, so you’ll want to make sure that you’re pinning related content already well in advance of the big day (with your affiliate link of course!).

Personally, I would also seriously recommend trying out Pinterest ads during Black Friday and Cyber Monday IF you have run Pinterest ads before and know what you’re doing.

There are many affiliate platforms that offer higher commissions and special deals during the Black Friday mania, so make sure that you take advantage of these. (Need more help choosing the best affiliate platforms for your niche? Have a look at The Highest Paying Affiliate Platforms For Bloggers!)

Sugar, spice and everything nice (i.e. Comfort Food!)

Easy, delicious comfort food like instant pot recipes and slow cooker meals are hugely popular in November (and they’ll continue being popular throughout winter)!

However, unhealthy comfort foods aren’t the only foods that are trending in the winter times: speciality diets such as the keto diet and paleo diet are also hugely popular, so consider pinning recipes in these niches if they fit your audience.

Winter Fashion

There are so many fashion trends that are trending on Pinterest this November! Apart from the obvious keywords like “fall outfits”, “winter outfits”, “black jeans outfits” and “teddy coats”, new, up and coming trends such as padded headbands and (faux) leather leggings are making waves in the Pinterest search too.

Here are a few more winter 2019 trend ideas from the runways that have started popping up on Pinterest: Knee high boot outfits, dark florals, one shoulder tops, shoulder pad outfits/ puff shoulder outfits and sequins.

If you’re a fashion blogger, consider creating new boards for each keyword that you’re interested in pinning about – this way, your pins will make their way up in the search faster!

Content Planning Ideas: What’s Going To Be Big Next?

Pinterest recommend creating content 4-6 weeks before the “prime time” of your seasonal content, so now is a good time to start planning your blog posts for December and January!

Content planning with seasonal Pinterest trends is my favorite thing to do especially around this time of year, because of all the extra traffic that it can bring. In the last two months alone, I was able to add an extra 20,000 pageviews to my blog just by leveraging Pinterest trends and planning my content well in advance!

Christmas

I know that I sound like a broken record ever since my September Pinterest report, but Christmas is HUGE on Pinterest and there’s a way that every blogger can leverage this trend.

Some of the most popular trending keywords on Pinterest during Christmas time will be focused around Christmas recipes (think Christmas cookies, desserts, dinner ideas), Christmas decorations (Christmas tree ideas, home decor, outdoor decor), Christmas crafts (anything DIY, including ornaments, crafts for kids, stocking fillers).

Even Christmas related fashion (Christmas sweaters,  Holiday outfits) and Christmas related beauty products (beauty advent calendars, Christmas nails, Christmas “flavored” DIY beauty products) are trending like crazy!

Gift guides are also huge, so consider making as many of them as possible. You can make gift guides for gifts under $25, $50, $100, gift guides for dog lovers, beauty lovers, jet setters, stocking fillers… you name it! If you think you’ve made enough gift guides, make one more!

DIY gift guides and dollar store gift guides are also super popular – if they fit your niche, you should consider creating a few.

In short, try to do as many Christmas posts as possible (I think I’ve made about 15 so far!), but make sure that these posts are evergreen so that you can use them again next year – for example, if you’re creating gift guides, pick products that you know will be sold next year as well. This will make it easier for you to monetize the same content next year with the same pins!

Hannukah & Kwanzaa

While Christmas is definitely the biggest celebration in December in the US, let’s not forget about other festivities. Both the Hannukah & Kwanzaa are trending search terms on Pinterest in December, so if you think they would be a good fit for your audience to write about, go ahead and dive in.

Much like Christmas, the same keywords are popular on Pinterest for both holidays (think gifts, decorations, recipes, crafts and party ideas)!

New Year’s Eve

If you are very organized, you can start planning your New Year posts as well this November. However, I would really advise you to stick to spending as much time planning your Christmas posts as possible – after all, this is the time of the year that bloggers usually make the most amount of money!

For New Year’s Eve, popular keywords include  New Year’s Eve Party ideas, NYE dresses & outfits, NYE food and appetizers.

September Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

September Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

September Pinterest Trends: What To Pin For Traffic & Profit

If you’re using Pinterest marketing to get traffic to your blog, you know that Pinterest is very search based. It’s also very influenced by trends and seasons, and some topics tend to be more popular than others during certain times of the year.

This is why it’s a great idea to tap into some of the trends on Pinterest: you’ll see a consistent boost in your blog traffic and you’ll become more popular on Pinterest itself. And as we all know, more traffic = more money, if you’re using display advertising and affiliate marketing in your monetization strategy.

So today, I’m going to be sharing September Pinterest Trends. I’m going to dive into the topics that you want to be pinning about this month and I’m also going to give you some blog content ideas for the next few months.

Pinterest recommends it’s users to start pinning seasonal content 45 days before its prime time, so this paramount that you finish writing about seasonal trends before this time!

Now without further ado, let’s dive into September Pinterest Trends.

What to Pin in September

Halloween

Remember when I said you should start pinning seasonal content about 45 days before their prime? Yep, now’s the best time to start pinning Halloween stuff!

Think how you can incorporate Halloween into your personal niche: if you’re a fashion or beauty blogger, you can create collections of the best Halloween makeup looks and outfits; if you’re a food blogger, you can create a collection of the best Halloween recipes and if you’re a DIY blogger, DIY Halloween costumes could be a great fit.

Remember to create specific boards for Halloween and keyword them properly, so that people will find your content faster.

Fall Fashion

Like I mentioned in August, fall fashion is HUGE this time of year. It can be very profitable to pin if you focus on pinning affiliate products. Think over the knee boots, chunky sweaters, wool hats…

If you are a fashion blogger, you’ll definitely want to create a few blog posts with your favorite fall outfits from the best retailers (like Amazon) too!

Fall Recipes (Pumpkin Spice, Apple Pies, comfort foods etc.)

I can’t be the only one who’s excited about the pumpkin spice season, can I? During September, keywords around comfort foods and other fall foods are very popular, so if you’re in the food niche, take advantage of this.

Think soups, stews, slow cooker meals, apples, cinnamon, pumpkin, butternut squash, maple and pecan… Yum!

Budgeting

In September, people like to get back into the routine of things. Many of us spend more money during the summer than we normally do, so topics around budgeting become popular. People want to get back on track with their financials before spendy holidays like Black Friday and Christmas roll around, so think about how you can help people in your niche to achieve this.

Content Planning Ideas

Q4 is around the corner and that means higher ad revenue + more sales for bloggers. You want to maximise your Q4 earnings as much as possible, so start preparing blog posts already – you want to be publishing at least once per week around this time and to get as much traffic as possible!

Here are some topic ideas that you can start planning for:

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a great topic to plan for if you’re a food blogger. And even if you aren’t, you might want to give Thanksgiving recipe posts a chance.

Many bloggers who typically don’t blog about food (such as Michelle from Making Sense Of Cents) write about Thanksgiving recipes around this time of year, because the ad revenue from them is so great. If you’re on a premium ad network such as Mediavine, you could end up making hundreds of extra dollars per post.

If you want to write blog posts about Thanksgiving, don’t just write one blog post – there’s plenty of opportunity for more than that! Think Thanksgiving dinner recipes, side recipes, traditional recipes, Southern recipes, Vegetarian recipes…. or even Thanksgiving decorations.

Black Friday

Black Friday is the day that Christmas shopping officially begins. Many retailers have special deals that you can promote around this time, so make sure that you make an advertising strategy in place before things get crazy.

If you already know who’s products you want to promote, draft out some blog posts and emails in advance, or come up with a Facebook ads / Pinterest ads campaign if you’re planning to use them in your strategy.

The Holidays

Ah, the holidays. This is the time of year that you can really maximise your earnings, so you want to be putting out as much content as you can in November/December time.

Focus your energy on starting to prepare gift guides for the holidays. Gift guides can be a major source of extra income, and if executed correctly, they can bring you income for years to come. Instead of creating just one gift guide, create multiple different ones for different audiences, like gifts under $20, gifts under $50, gifts for dog lovers, etc.

If you are monetizing your blog through display advertising, you can also create blog posts around Christmas recipes. Recipe posts are  hugely popular on Pinterest and if you use display ads, you’ll want to get as many pageviews on your blog as you possibly can!

Monthly Tip

Focus your energy on preparing for the holiday season. Create as many gift guides that you can think of that are relevant to your audience. You’ll want to start doing this now, because the next few months are going to be busy in the blogging world!

Pro tip: If you’ve already created gift guides in the past instead of creating new ones, simply update your old ones and make sure that all the links work. This way you’ll save time and you can focus your energy on creating new content!

Want To Boost Your Traffic Even More With Pinterest?

You probably know that Pinterest is the holy grail of traffic for many bloggers, but it’s not always so easy to get started with successful Pinterest marketing.

That was also my case – I thought that I was doing everything right with Pinterest, but the traffic just wasn’t there…Until I discovered Tailwind Tribes. After that, my Pinterest traffic REALLY took off, like you can see here:

Tailwind Tribes has really been my ultimate secret to not only reaching 5 million monthly Pinterest views, but also getting 80,000-90,000 monthly pageviews on my blog consistently. Before I started implementing Tribes into my Pinterest strategy, my pageviews hovered at around 50,000 /month, and 5-6 weeks after I started implementing Tribes, it shot up to 91,000 / month.

And that wasn’t all – Tailwind Tribes actually helped to boost the popularity of my ENTIRE Pinterest account! Before Tribes, I was virtually getting no traffic to my blog from Pinterest (2,000-16,000 pageviews / month), and after Tribes it shot up to 50,000 pageviews / month from Pinterest!

I also tested out if my Pinterest traffic would suffer if I paused my Tribes strategy. I went on a 5 week hiatus in November/December time and didn’t post anything to Tribes. The results surprised me in a positive way: my traffic from Tribes dropped as expected, but my organic Pinterest traffic picked up where Tribes left off. So, the net result was that I still had as much traffic as before.

So what does that mean? Well, Tailwind Tribes helped to kickstart the flow of organic traffic to my blog too!

August Pinterest Trends: What to Pin For Traffic And Profit

August Pinterest Trends: What to Pin For Traffic And Profit

August Pinterest Trends: What to Pin For Traffic And Profit

If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’ll know how much I love Pinterest and how much it has changed my life for the better.

You probably also know that Pinterest is very search based. While some topics are popular throughout the year, some are more seasonal like Christmas, Thanksgiving the summer and many more.

And what’s more, Pinterest actually recommends it’s users to start pinning seasonal content 45 days before its prime time. Sometimes it can be very confusing to  know what content you should be pinning on a monthly basis for optimal performance.

That’s why I decided to start a new series here on the blog called Pinterest Trends.

Every month from now on I’m going to tell you what’s popular on Pinterest during the month, what you should pin AND  more importantly, how to plan your blog content for the next few months based on what will be popular on Pinterest.

Tapping into Pinterest trends is a surefire way to boost your blog traffic and income, so you don’t want to miss these trend reports!

What to Pin in August

Back To School Content

I felt it was perfect time to get started with these Pinterest Trend reports in August, because the start of the academic year is just around the corner. Back to school stuff is HUGE this month and retailers are stocking up on new notebooks, bags and everything fall related.

Fall Fashion

Speaking of fall, fall fashion is also HUGE from now on. Think over the knee boots, chunky sweaters, wool hats… Outfits like these are going to be super popular essentially until spring rolls around. If you are a fashion blogger, you’ll definitely want to create a few list posts with your favorite fall outfits from the best retailers (like Amazon).

Productivity / Organization

Content around productivity is big in August/September time. After a long, relaxing summer, people are ready to start grinding again and settle into a routine. Pin content around anything that will help people achieve that routine. This could include productivity tips, self-care articles and also organization articles.

Content Planning Ideas

Use these ideas to plan your blog content for the next few months.

According to Pinterest, the best time to start pinning seasonal topics is 45 days before the so called “prime time” of the content. So for example, you should start pinning Thanksgiving content in early October – much sooner than you’d think it was necessary.

This is why it’s such a great idea to sit back for a few minutes and really start thinking what you want to create on your blog in the next few months and when you should publish those posts for optimal traffic and income.

So, with that in mind, let’s look at the big trends that are up and coming on Pinterest in the next few months.

The Holidays

The holiday season is approaching very fast and you’ll want to start thinking about Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday and even Christmas.

Even though there’s ample time until the holidays, it’s a good idea to start planning your holiday content already. Life has a tendency to get in the way of things, especially around big holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This is why I suggest dedicating the next few months to planning content around these big holidays, because they are generally the time that people BUY the most things and advertisers pay the most money to bloggers for display ads.

If you are monetizing your blog through display advertising, you’ll want to create a few posts focused entirely on Thanksgiving recipes and Christmas recipes. Trust me, these are hugely popular on Pinterest and if executed correctly, you can make a few hundred extra dollars per post just by making round up posts of recipes.

If you’re monetizing your blog mainly through affiliate marketing, now is the time to make a plan for Black Friday. You can also start putting together gift guides for the holidays – these are super popular around Christmas.

Apart from preparing for the holidays, you should think about writing as much fall content as possible.

If you’re a fashion blogger, this means sharing your favorite fall styles, making a post about the best fall boots, etc.

If you’re a lifestyle/beauty blogger, consider writing a blog post about the best fall essentials, the best books to cosy up with, or the latest fall beauty trends (Halloween looks are also HUGE on Pinterest).

If you’re a food blogger, think about recipes with pumpkin spice, nutmeg, apples, cinnamon and more.

As an extra tip, remember that Pinterest recommends pinning to specific boards. So, the most niched down your boards, the better. If you don’t have any existing fall boards, go ahead and create some.

For example, if you’re a fashion blogger and want to pin fall outfits, go on and create a board called “Fall Outfits”, not something general like “Womens Fashion”.

Monthly Tip: Update Your Old Content

If you have old content from this time last year, make sure that you re-publish these posts. Make sure to pay special attention to those posts that did well last year, optimize them for Pinterest and included more relevant affiliate links to your post.

If you have gift guides from last season, go ahead and see if all the items are still in stock. Update links to those items that aren’t, and republish the content. This helps the reader to find what they’re looking for faster and it also notifies Google that your post is up to date.

Sometimes, updating old content is a much more efficient way to blog than writing a next blog post all together.

Think about it – if you update posts that have been successful in the past, you’re for sure going to have a return on your time invested. Whereas if you write a new blog post, you can never know how popular it’s going to be.

I dive deeper into my Tailwind Tribes strategy in my 90+ page e-book Explosive Traffic With Tribes which goes over my exact strategy that I used to get 90,000 monthly pageviews to my blog and make my content spread like wildfire.

The Explosive Traffic With Tribes e-book is super affordable and contains no fluff – In it, break down my exact strategy on how I get 3-5 million Pinterest views each month. Tailwind Tribes are my main source of traffic and I highly recommend this e-book if you’re serious about getting huge traffic from Pinterest.
