This season’s London Fashion Week was my third so far, and although I made it only to one show, it was still packed with activities, after parties and blogger events. Instead of doing an overview of everything that I did during LFW, I thought that I would bullet point the things that I learnt this season and that may be beneficial to some of you readers too.
1) Dress For The Weather
Okay, I probably should have learnt this already during my first fashion week. Somehow I still manage to forget that health is more important than being seen in shoes you can’t even walk in or wearing an outfit that probably should have been left for the summer season. This time I made the mistake of wearing too little and fell ill straight away. I wasn’t able to wear any of the other nice outfits that I had planned because I was cold even in a sweater. I had to look a lot less glamorous on my second and third day of London Fashion Week than what I had intended, and looking back that could have been easily avoided. So, here I am now, writing this post with a hot cup of Lemsip in my hand, waiting for recovery.
2) There’s A Lot of Straight Men
Blogger parties have always been amazing in my opinion, but if there’s one thing that they’ve lacked, it’s straight guys. For some reason, London Fashion Week seems to bring out a more varied crowd in the party scene: there’s a lot of media people, directors, organisers, models, actors… etc. It was great to see that side of the industry, even if I’m not really looking for a male model to court me.
3) Tickets Aren’t Always Checked….
….You just need to know where the shows and parties are. If you know people in the blogging community, you can often just join others as a plus one, or even just walk into a party by yourself with a smile on your face if you can pull it off. Often times the organisers are happy to have you there, as long as you look like you belong there (read: your dress sense fits the crowd) and perhaps take a few snaps. This season I didn’t sneak into any venues where I wasn’t invited to personally, but I did get on the guestlist for some places very last minute, owing to some of my blogger friends.
You can now also shop my outfits from 21Buttons. My account can be found here.
At the moment it seems like I am not going to Milan Fashion Week this season, but I am still considering Paris Fashion Week. For those who have been before, which one is better? x
