The explosion of passion and colour that was seen on the runways is something that is perfect for the upcoming spring. Cool trends, masterful use of fabrics, eccentric details, light dresses, fun patterns, and most importantly – the excitement that was felt in the air. Models, designers, journalist, fashion editors, divas, celebrities, all were buzzing about the latest styles, and we’re very much excited to present them to you.
For the cheerful fashionista and beauty addict in you, we’re here to give you a few tips which you can use to make these trends your own.
Usually reminiscent of summer, tropical print dresses were all over the runways because people can’t seem to wait to enjoy hot weather and beaches again. Time to listen to our wise and fabulous Michael Kors and pull that old Hawaiian shirt from the back of your closet and have some fun matching it with a cute pair of shorts. His new collection is littered with leave and hibiscus patterns and shapes, and it gives a beautiful relaxed vibe.
This all calls for an effortless makeup look with a bright coral lip and a dash of highlighter on the cheekbones.
Long, flowy mermaid hair is back in town, and these waist-length hairstyles are almost fantasy-like in their beauty. Gucci, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta are all loving the ultra-feminine and wispy long hair, but if you aren’t blessed with long tresses, hair extensions are always an excellent option. Or if you hate the impracticality of long hair, get a tomboy cut because it looks like it’s going to be all the rage as Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner already rocked it on the runway.
Fancy hair clips, huge, voluminous curls, and headbands were also frequently seen, and one of the most popular trends was the “wet hair look,” both in a sleek, and more grunge-like version.
But with a sexy twist! Pick up a trick from the Zimmermann spring collection and leave the blouse unbuttoned and cinch it in the waist with a wide belt to create a plunging neckline that will give you a very naughty vibe, perfect for a party night.
Blazers + Shorts
There were multiple instances of matching highly-structured business garments with something a little more fun. The Off-White blazer and runner shorts combo was delightfully unexpected and interesting because it represented two things in one outfit – a clever professional woman who knows what she’s doing, and a long-legged seductress who’s very much aware of her own beauty.
Plain and simple maxi and wrap dresses were common on the runway, but all of them had some interesting details. Multiple belts around the waist and hips made the outfits really pop and gave us a fun little trend that could easily be replicated.
Forget about millennial pink and boring colors, this spring is going to be all about bold and loud. Color-blocking and saturated hues of Carolina Herrera give us something refreshingly simple, yet effective, and there were a lot of garments in gorgeous cherry red, orange, and magenta tones. If you want something more subdued, Tom Ford, Hermes, Giambattista Valli, and Chanel are loving ice cream pastels, especially in business suits.
Nail polish is something that can make an outfit really pop, and simply can’t be overlooked. Spring 2018 calls for minimalist nail art of Philip Lim and Club Monaco, tangerine of Jeremy Scott, and, above all, metallics. Rebecca Minkoff and Oscar de la Renta seem obsessed with it – there were so many sassy metallics on gorgeous models, and you’ve simply got to experience that feeling of looking at your own shiny nails. As a true diva, you deserve to have beautifully manicured nails, and why not have your own signature polish, too? Pick the shade that represents you, and then have custom nail polish made, and name it yourself if you really want to show off your uniqueness.
Are you getting excited about spring fashion? While there’s still time until spring comes knocking on our door, there’s no harm in fantasizing about cute new outfits and accessories that you’ll get to show around.
